A little rain, a lot of joy

Photographing Tim and Christina’s engagement was a joy. They are two of the kindest people I have had the pleasure of knowing, and watching their relationship grow had made this moment especially meaningful.

There should be a word for the particular happiness of hearing that two people you love are getting married. “Overjoyed” does not quite capture it.

Their warmth and generosity were there in every part of this session. Even when the weather changed, they kept laughing and holding one another close.

At the time, Christina was preparing to shave her head to raise funds for the Leukaemia Foundation. We took these photographs the day before, shortly after their engagement.

Then the rain arrived properly. Instead of letting it end the afternoon, they laughed their way through the downpour.

These photographs preserve that chapter of their story. They are a record of the session, rather than an update on their lives today.
