Marty and Nicola’s wedding at Byron View Farm

A Byron View Farm wedding enquiry was enough to get me excited. After moving north from Sydney, I loved discovering the venues around Byron Bay. Marty and Nicola’s celebration became one of the days I remember most fondly.

From the moment I picked up my camera, the views and the energy of their celebration drew me in. The open fields and hinterland backdrop gave us room to make photographs without taking them far from the party.

The old cottage, stone walls and gardens brought a lovely sense of character to the day. Everything felt relaxed, with just the right amount of elegance.

Family portraits matter, but I also love the moments between them: the laughter, the shuffling into place and the second everyone forgets about the camera.

Latvian folk dancing honoured Marty’s heritage before the silent disco began. It was my first time photographing one at a wedding. Music played through speakers at a modest volume while guests listened through headphones, and the dance floor was a joy to watch.
